in a grand coup d'etat, i wore my pajamas to church this morning. har har!

hey everybody,

it's easter weekend, and i am inspired to post by landon who's documented his easter weekend. what fun i had coming home to a family that was put out with me. the first thing my brother says to me is "yeah, you didn't call me on my birthday." and my dad echos, "it's just one of those things that you remember for the rest of your life."

DEAR FAMILY: i did call peter on his birthday. i remember this clearly; i lamented the fact that he now has a cell phone but was still very enthusiastic for him when i talked to him. "yes, peter... congratulations on your new cell phone. it seems youre a real person now. i love you. happy 13th, etc."

to recap, my brother forgot that i remembered his birthday. an ironic turn? i thought so.

in other news, yesterday my brother chipped off half of one of his front teeth by hitting himself in the face with a bat. we found the tooth, put it in milk and scurried to the dentist who was able to glue it back on. thank goodness.

despite renovations, the brandon library is crap. and i graduate in three weeks!

(ps: i asked my brother if it was ok that i posted about him. "yes." then i asked him if he had anything to say. "no.")

this week i established myself as the reigning ebay queen. well, perhaps not a queen of sorts, but somewhere close to a courtier, which is respectable. i bought a tshirt- that i am crazy about. and i also bought a cigarette case- that i am crazy about it. neither has arrived in the mail, but i love them already. (POSSESSIONS!)

edited original dramatic paragraph. inserting paint picture:

                                                                                                          will scotland be like this?

oh my goodness. this was too much. i have spent my spring break with my family at seaside. we are here for a wedding and fortunately i have been able to spend the half week with julia and landon, and then celebrate the marriage of family friends at a weekend here in town. perhaps i could ask for a more adventerous spring break, but not a more refreshing or fun one. i wore a lot of dresses.

seaside, for all of its northeast jackson hullabaloo, never ceases to be a good vacation and i am glad that we had the excuse of a wedding to visit. i have gotten to meet and talk with a lot of my parents high school and college friends, and was glad to find that like my parents, my parents friends are plain good people. they throw good parties, welcome strangers and old friends alike, and seem to have a sense of depth and heritage.

i did the twist and boogied with my father, and i had so much fun. the wedding was wonderful due mainly to A) the lighting and high ceilings in the chapel and B) the obvious affection between the bride and groom.

again... come play on our front porch at 310; the weather beckons. love,

jessi

dear friends, julia and i are sitting on the front porch. say hi, julia:

"hello out there. i'm just sitting here eating apples and peanut butter."

and grapes. this balmy weather has sprung upon us like a great surprise! like a great surprise that is also pleasant! today i took a walk, the standard walk downtown. after taking this walk i came back and sat on the porch for a bit, and then thought, "that was nice. so nice, in fact, i want to do it again." so i walked to class and felt very one with the world and all the things in it. during walk #1 i lost the cigarrette in my back pocket, but (shazam!) i found it on my way home.

julia: "what if it wasnt yours???"

but it looked like mine and you'll remember how nice the weather is today, so that boded well.

right-o. so the front porch season has officially commenced. yes, today. i'm aware of the tradition that dictates 4 seperate seasons; but really there are only two that matter. #1) front porch, #2) living room. living room season has it merits, undoubtedly. it can include fireside chats, hearty meals with people you like, and noteworthy naps on welcome couches. but the days of the front porch promise magic and dolphins, unicorns and rainbows. once, long ago, our front porch was sprinkled with fairy dust.

in this happy season, come visit, come play, come with drinks and camaraderie!
